Common questions
How much monthly income can ₹50 lakh give through SWP?
If the money earns about 8% a year, you can take about ₹33,000 a month without touching the original ₹50 lakh. Take ₹30,000 and the money keeps growing; take ₹34,000 and it runs out in about 46 years.
Is SWP income taxed?
Each withdrawal is treated as a sale of units, so only the gain part of it is taxed, at mutual fund capital gains rates.
How long will my money last with SWP?
It depends on how much you take out compared with what the money earns. If your monthly withdrawal is less than the monthly growth, the money never runs out; this calculator shows the exact time otherwise.
